WHAT DOES OEM MEAN?
O.E.M. Stands for ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’ which means the cartridge was manufactured by the same company as the printer.
WILL USING COMPATIBLE CARTRIDGES VOID MY PRINTER WARRANTY?
Short answer: No.
Long Answer: The most popular OEM’s of printers sell printers at cost or below as they make their profits from selling the cartridges. That’s why a lot of printers come with only ‘starter’ cartridges that only hold enough ink for a few pages before pushing you to buy one of their cartridges.
By using compatible cartridges you cut into their main source of profit.
This is why they use scare-mongering tactics (threatening to void your warranty) to frighten you into only buying their cartridges. They are simple for protecting their own interests.
It is actually illegal for them to do so. They cannot void your warranty simply for using compatible cartridges.
If still in warranty and your printer develops a fault, they should have an engineer look at the machine and if the cartridges are shown to have damaged your printer, the engineer’s report is enough for us to either repair your printer or replace it.
There is no reason that you should not use compatible cartridges. They work and save you money.
WILL I GET THE SAME NUMBER OF PRINTED PAGES FROM COMPATIBLE INK CARTRIDGES THAN OEM PRINTER CARTRIDGES?
You get at least the same amount of printed pages from compatible inkjet cartridges as you will get from OEM inkjet cartridges.
Customers often report to getting many more pages per cartridge over their OEM inkjet counterparts.
MY PRINTER ISN’T MENTIONED ON THE BOX OF MY CARTRIDGE, WILL IT WORK?
There are lots of different printers that take the same cartridges. As a result, you may not see your printer model number on the box.
If you have any concerns about having the correct cartridge please contact us before opening the product packaging.
MY PRINTER WON’T RECOGNISE THE CARTRIDGE.
This can be caused by the contacts on the cartridge chip or electric circuits not connecting with your printer.
Try wiping the cartridges copper contact plate on the cartridge with a slightly damp piece of kitchen towel. Make sure the copper contact plates on the cartridges are dry and then place them back into the printer
If your cartridges have chips on them, lift up the cartridge, that isn’t recognised, a few millimetres up out of their cradle in the printer and then wiggle the cartridge back down into place. This will help the contacts in the printer align with the chip on the cartridge correctly.
If the cartridge is still not recognised, turn the printer off by taking the power lead directly out of the back of the printer. Wait 10-15 seconds and then plug it back it. This is a power cycle and can reboot your printer and clear any errors that are stopping the cartridges from working.

THE INK CARTRIDGE I BOUGHT FROM YOU LOOKS DIFFERENT TO THE ORIGINAL CARTRIDGE THAT CAME WITH THE PRINTER, WHY?
OEM’s have patents on their cartridges which actually make it illegal for compatible manufacturers to reproduce the shape of the cartridges exactly. So in some cases, the cartridges look slightly different but are still designed to work with the machine of which it was purchased for, as long as the cartridge number is the same.

CAN I COLLECT MY ORDER?
As we are an actual Bricks & Mortar retail store, if you are passing our shop in Preston you can order online and collect in store. Just simply bring in your order number and collect during opening hours.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Delta and JCB cards. We also accept purchase orders from schools and government organisations.

IS MY CARD INFORMATION SECURE?
All Credit Card information is passed over a secure connection using the latest encryption technology. When you go to the ‘Checkout’ page, you will see that the page starts with ‘https’ (meaning secure SSL connection) and there is a padlock at the bottom of your browser window indicating this. Your details are only decrypted after they reach our fulfilment department.
Our systems are extremely secure and so your credit card details are safe.

I’M ORDERING FOR A BUSINESS DO YOU HAVE CREDIT ACCOUNTS?
Yes, if you’re a Limited company, a charity, or part of a government body, we can hopefully set-up a credit account for you.
Limited companies should complete our application form which can be found on www.thecartridgeguys.co.uk/accounts. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider business accounts for businesses that have been trading less than two years or have not filed accounts with Companies House in the last twelve months.
Charities, Schools and other Government bodies; please email the following details to us on your company letterhead:
- Company/charity registration number (not VAT number).
- Name and contact details of the person responsible for payment, including email address.
- Details of the products that you’d like to order.

Please note that purchase orders must be for a minimum of £30 (inc. VAT), and are payable within 30 days. Unfortunately, if you are not a Limited company, charity, or part of a government body, you will need to place your order and make payment by debit or credit card.
DO YOU PROVIDE INVOICING ACCOUNTS FOR SCHOOL, LOCAL AUTHORITIES?
Yes, we offer 30 day invoicing accounts for schools and local authorities. Please email orders from your work email, displaying the delivery address, contact name and numbers, and which items you would like to order to the following email address invoicing@thecartridgeguys.co.uk
At The Cartridge Guys we have a reputation for supplying quality products at great prices with service and backup second to none.
HOW MUCH IS DELIVERY AND WHEN WILL IT ARRIVE?
Orders over £20 will be delivered free via royal mail. If you order before 3pm Monday through Friday we aim for your order to be with you the next day. This is true, 95% of the time. After 3pm orders will be processed but may not get to you until 48 hours later or next working day if ordered around bank holidays and Christmas.

No. We offer the ability to create an account to make it easier for you to return and place further orders with us. If you do not wish to create an account then this is perfectly fine and you can continue as a guest.
